1. Yes. I think we will find evedence of other life long before being able to contact/communicate with it (100 or 1000s of years). Unfortunetly I think the first evidence will be from a life form that no longer exists (i.e. fossle).
2. We already are transmitting... radio, TV, etc.
3. My interest in distributed computting. The subject of the program isn't as interesting to me as the means.
