I am 50 years old and a union representative, currently with Teamsters Local 763 in Seattle, WA. I live in Olympia, WA. My intersets range from reading (history, politics, science, sci-fi, suspense), to music (Opera, Classical, bluegrass, celtic, blues, world music), to web surfing and rebuilding old computers, to gardening and fishing.
My Politics tend to be left. I am opposed to the Bush administration's endless war on the constitution and civil liberties world-wide. I am more afraid of John Ashcraft than I am of Al Quaida. |
| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

I am running SETI at home as a painless way to contribute to the body of scientific knowledge. Already the data that we are gathering is having spin off results. I am in favor of pure scientific research. I don't know if we can make contact with ETs, but I think that any effort to educate and inspire the public with the value of scientific research is worth the effort.
There needs to be a constant effort to challenge the Luddites who would have us teaching "creationism" in the schools and would impose their religion on the public. |
