Profile: Syncretism

Personal background
Syncretism, sing'kre-tism, n. The attempted blending of irreconcilable principles, as in philosophy or religion.

Greetings from Tucson Arizona, where over 196 days of clear skys makes for some of the best star gazing in the country.
I am a middle age, semi-retired electronic tech. I now drive a heavy truck part time to pay the electric bill on my Seti "stack", five computers running Seti@home. Check out my website at http://edwbr.tripod.com.
I began running Seti@home to make use of some old computers I had. Most were still in good condition but just collecting dust. I heard about the project after reading Carl Sagan's "Contact" and seeking more information about SETI on the internet.
I became interested in "stacks" after visiting Luke Mester's Brooke High Seti page at http://bhs.broo.k12.wv.us/homepage/staff/seti/lrp-seti.htm.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that extraterrestrial life exist, but as to who will discover who first, I am not sure. They may find us or may already know about us. I do not belive that there are any dangers of making contact with an ET. If they are so advanced that they could "wipe us out" they would have done it long ago. More probable is that they have advanced beyond the evolutional stages of political and territorial warring. I hope the project continues in some form and am looking forward to gearing up my "stack" for future searches.
