Personal background
I'm just one of the many billions here on the ever-interconnecting Earth...
I live just outside Boston, Massachusetts - U.S.A....
and how could I pass up the chance to help this cool project advance...
how could I pass up the chance to possibly help discover and connect with a being/species that could quite possibly be the same as Yoda!!!

I can't wait to shake his stubby 3-fingered hand! :)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Why?....
My view of the project (S.E.T.I. & SETI@home) and the 'why' I run SETI@home are one answer; there is life, and intelligence of some unknown disposition, outside what little our species has discerned so far. Somewhere (perhaps 'sometime' as well) in the vastness beyond what we "see", beyond what little we "know", the infinity of existence will have sparked other advancements into life.
As we as a species seek to enrich the fundamental existence of everything, we must allow our knowledge to grow, to leap beyond one plateau to encompass an even greater understanding.
Contact beyond what we know, beyond any of our experience at this level of existence would fuel that leap; contact somewhere in the vastness beyond would not only enrich existence (ours, theirs, others....) but would be one of our species' greatest discoveries of wonder.
The chance to have even the tiniest contribution to that remarkable advancement is too tremendous to pass up.
