Personal background |
I'm a sixth semester student of computer science at the Technical University of Vienna. Since my largest current interest is astronomy, I've tripped over the SETI@home client and immediately installed it on all Linux boxes to which I have access (sums up to, hold your breath, two). Plus the SETI@home screensaver on my family's Win2000 computer. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
Funny program, that, and I feel better when all those computers running all day do SOMETHING instead of just sitting around waiting for me to log in remotely and pull over some MP3s to a friend.
Sorry to say, but had I found a Linux client working for that program working for the cause of finding drugs against cancer, I would have used that, since I estimate its use for mankind higher (if I had cancer, I'd rather have a useful medication than knowing that 100 lightyears away there is a civilization which MAY have such a thing). |
