A SETI Cruncher From Way Back... Sorta way back anyway, Early 2000...
I'm a 30-something small business owner (digital workflow consulting) in West-Central IL. USA
I fell in love with SETI about 9 years ago, when I had a horrible addiction to buying old computers at garage sales and trying to turn them into Frankenstein crunching machines... Aahhhh, the good old days of trying to run Win98 on a old Pentium designed for 3.1! (Where the hell was my interest in Unix back then I ask you?) I remember some of those old boxes taking 72 hours or more to burn through a WU... no wonder it took so long to bring my classic SETI per/day average up!
Well, I still have that damn old computer monkey on my back, but now it's flagshiped by a quintet of Quad-Xeon machines! And what do you mean you still have a box layin' around without at leas a GB of RAM? I mean come on man, my cell phone's got Dual Channel DDR! Hey... now there's a good idea! Where the hells my SETI@PHONE?
