Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe it exists. I suspect we a "shielded" from contact until we as a planet get our own act together! The beneifits could include a tremendous jump in knowledge. Dangers might include be drawn into conflicts between other civilizations.
A beacon should be constructed, starting with simple mathematical numbers, such as a sequence of prime, Pi, etc., then progressing into more complex material such as audio and video in various formats.
I run Set@home to contribe idle time on my PC to the overall effort. I was first made aware of the project by the Art Bell Coast to Coast radio talk show and then mention in ham radio magazines.
