I'm a 21 year old from Ontario, Canada. I'm studying at Trent University, where I'm joint-majoring in English and Anthropology. Once I finish my bachelor's degree, I plan on attending the University of Ontario Institute of Technology to study either chemistry or forensic science. In my spare time, I like to study ancient Egypt, read, watch television, surf the internet, go to the movies, paint, play with my neice and nephew, and go out with friends. Someday, I'm going to marry either Icheb or Legolas, I'm not sure which! ;)

| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

I truly believe that extraterrestrial life exists somewhere in the universe. I think it's very important for us to attempt to find other civilizations, and come into contact with them, and this is why I run SETI@Home. While helping SETI analyze data is only a small thing to do, I like to help however I can. (And since I'm a starving student, I can't do much monetarily!)
Exploration is an important part of the human character, and has been a leading perogative in Western culture for centuries. and maybe it's the anthropologist in me speaking, but I think it's immensely important for us to learn about other ways of life to better understand ourselves. If we had the opportunity to study an extraterrestrial culture, it would be a fascinating comparison to our own culture, which would teach us so much! |
