Personal background
Just a kid. Hopefully one that has EARNED his respect arround the internet. I love 3dfx, as a company, as a friend. Yeah, they're gone. No - I won't just get over it. They built a community. I carry it on. My website, and http://X3dfX.com - along with several others - are proof that 3dfx's ring of people are friends, and not just "USERS." I do what I can as a kid to support and develop for the 3dfx community, from my dialup connection in Corry, Pennsylvania.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Some say we'll never find ET. Others say SETI@home is a waste of time. Others say use your CPU for somthing more productive. Granted I could be doing that... but what's the harm in this? I'm not a 24/7 Work Unit cranker, but I don't mind giving up my machine's spare time to run a little SETI work. I wasn't inspired by a movie, or told by a friend. I stumbled on to SETI@Home back in the days of my 486, with an EARLY version of SETI, but chose not to join for the sake of not killing my little 80Mhz Intel chip...
Now I've a custom built Thunderbird 1.1Ghz with 512 MB of RAM. My 'average unit time' is probably a bit high because I've tryed several different things, from K6-2 400's running the screen saver version, to this powerhouse machine, running the NTClient. But I don't mind donating my extra bits of time, not at all.
