Personal background
Hello, I'm 22 years old, and am currently in my final year of University at Griffith, in Brisbane, Australia.

I'm studying Information Technology and Majoring in Software Engineering. If luck strikes me, next year I would like to be working on software projects here in Australia.

Of the things that I'm interested in, I would say I only have one addiction/obsession/complete fascination, and that is Formula 1. I am, and have been a Ferrari Fan since I was 2 or 3 years old. I am interested in plenty of other things, but I'll just stick to F1.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Of the millions of Galaxies, and with the millions of stars in each galaxy, and possible billions of planets in total in each galaxy, I find the odds that we, humans of Earth, are the only life forms with intelligence to try to communicate beyond our planet. The biggest question is when, and if, we will discover anything. Considering the budget needed to cover the entire vastness of the sky, I do not believe it will be anytime soon. I think we will be discovered before we find someone.

Everyone has seen movies like Independence Day, and if we as a species are hell-bent on destroying each other, as we are right now, then there is a good chance that other alien races are too. But then there is an equal chance of meeting alien races who meerly want to explore. And those races are where the benefits will come from.

Should we be found? Yes I think we should. I personally think the only way we as humans will get over our petty differences, is to find something that could shock us. It could bite us in the arse, but I believe we as a species would truely learn our true potential as a species.

I run Seti because I would like to help increase the odds in making contact. However small, but everything helps. If only there was a way of processing units quicker, without having a faster computer.
