Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe extraterrestrial life exists. This universe is to big for just us. I believe through current space exploration and other methods soon to be developed that we will discover it eventualy. Such discoveries would open entire new avenues of science as well as with social aspects. Possible dangers would be we humans driving other life forms to extinction. Also, the possiblility of strange new microbes and viruses that could wreat havok, and possibly no cure with earth's current life.
Humans should transmit a single for others to find. But, this should not be large costly operations. Instead our current radio and such singles are aduequate.
I run SETI for several reasons. First, If I am going to own a piece of technology such as my computor, what is the use in letting it sit idle? It takes no effort on my part to contribute to the greater good. Also, it is up to each person to take part in such operations as SETI if we hope to acchive anything. SETI seems to be doing as fine job and I can offer no other suggestions than to keep up the good work.
