Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
There has to be some sort of ET out there, even if its just a microscopic bug. We'll probably discover aliens in the next 100-150 years, by which time we'll probably be more united as a planet and more "ready" to venture into space as one. Possible benefit of finding alien life is that it would expand our knowledge of the universe, and maybe open trade and things like that. Some dangers is that they may be much more advanced than us, and very hostile.
I run Seti@home because I want to contribute in some small part to finding alien life out there in the universe. I think the project is a great idea, as it gives everyone the chance to help search for ET's.
