Personal background
I have been a member of SETI at home since I bought my first home computer in November of 2002. When I was a kid in school in the 1970's they sought to impress me about man's thrilling conquest of the moon and space. I was taken to telescopes, the museum, and I even won 1St prize in a school science fair about space. They told me by the time I was middle-aged there would be people living on the moon and colonies on Mars. Sadly this didn't turn out to be true.

As I have just reached middle age,(35), where I fully expected to be living off-planet by this time, I find myself in an ordinary middle-class earthbound enviroment. My greatest hope from the SETI at home project is that we will find more advanced civilizations out there, and perhaps learn from them - like how to get out there and hop around the galaxy as I would very much like to do.
