Profile: Obsolete Administrator

Personal background
I am the administrator of the Obsolete Laboratory.
I have been running SETI since November 2000.  It first started when I was looking for software to run on my new SUN workstation.  After amassing five sun boxes working on the project, I began to look at my Intel platforms for more support. I just wanted to explore the world of UNIX, however now my passion for SETI has expanded to all my machines (eighteen machines and counting)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think there are an infinite number of stars, which lends to the possibility there are an infinite number of planets. Having an infinite number of planets lends to the possibility that somewhere else, besides earth, life was born, and a dominant species was able to reason, and form societies. With the idea established that their are other societies of people on other planets. It\\'s possible to assume there are both races that are far inferior to our level of technology, and races that are far more advanced then we are. With the established hypothesis that their are beings with technology that we will not see in our lifetimes, we can naturally suppose that those beings would be trying to contact us.
