Personal background
Live and work in Indiana.

I stumbled onto the site on my own just surfing around. I think I found a link on tech tv website but who knows I don't remember for sure.

I'm a religious person and yes I still believe that some day we will find ET.

I don't check this email as often as I should but if anyone wants to talk about SETI feel free to email me. xilorf@yahoo.com

Woo Hoo with my 31'st data unit I passed my personal goal of 1,000 hrs officially its 1,029hrs 52 mins 10 secs.

My next goal will be 100 units I wonder how many hours it will take. At this point in time that I imput this info im at 81 data units 1346 hrs 33 mins 31.2 secs.

I finally figured out that when I run seti in the background while minimized that it doesnt show the graphics and moves through those data units very quickly so while it took me almost 1,030 hrs to complete 31 data units I've gone up by 50 data units its only been a little more than 317 hrs more. Also my time per unit has gone from 33 hr 12 min 25.4 sec at the 30th data unit to 16 hr 37 min 27.0 sec for my 81st data unit. Thats near half the time per data unit, and thats only the average the actual time per data unit since I started running minimized mode is near 6.5 hours.

Last change or added info 10/16/02

More to be added at a later date :)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
SETI: Yes I do think there ET's out there. Whenever were lucky enough to stumble over their radio signals, or whenever they decide to show themselves (that is if they are advanced enough). I'm very proud to be a part of this project and my hope is to be so in the future for a very long time (unless we find something/someone out there). I'm impressed that so many people can come together besides their religious belief (minus the few I wrote about below) or their nationality for such a goal.

Reason Involved: Well lets see here I have many reasons for being involved with this project. I'd like to be involved with the greatest discovery of this perhaps any other century. I dont remember the quote exactly but it is from the movie "Contact": "If there's no one out there then that would be a lot of wasted space" I haven't seen the move in at least 10 months to a year so if I butchered it I'm sorry.

Religion: I was very disappointed to see that there are so many immature and verbally abusive people involved with such a dynamic project as this when I went over the answers given in the last poll. I do not go around making fun of atheists, nor do I go around talking down about them. On a neutral thought people are morons if they think the success for this project will prove one way or another on religion, people will continue to believe as they wish.
