Personal background
I'm presently taking a break from college but I'm pursuing a degree in SISCO Networking. I enjoy computers as a hobby and as a vocation. I am 38 years old and transplanted from Marion,OH to Glendale,AZ. Presently I'm working for a security company full time, I love to read Sci-Fi and self help literature. I enjoy water activities like snokeling and swimming but would like to try to become a certified SCUBA diver when I can find the time to do so. I love board games and like to take in a movie often. My favorite one one thus far has to be "28 days later." but I enjoy drama as well. My favorite comedian has to be George Carlin. In the future I would love to pick up the box set of "Cosmos." I found Dr. Sagans grasp on our universe facsinating as well as entertaining. Beside all this I enjoy good conversation as well.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
In the sense of proportion, of course the numbers are in favor of life on other worlds, I fear what life we will discover but there has been many explorers in our history that have shallowed their fear of the unknown that they may discover the things we take advantage of everyday. Right Now the only way to connect to others is through our efforts here on earth. To me, it has been the most constructive means of using modern technology. I believe that every piece of technology we have can be utilized for the destruction of our species or to uplift it and teach it. There are so many temptations with a computer and the internet, early on I decided to use my computer in a positive way and to resist the less positive ways. I think it is a neccessary choice we must all make utimately. I have always had a interest in astronomy and the cosmos so it was a natural progression for me to involve myself and my computer in SETI@Home. Suggestions? Not really.
