Personal background
Welcome, visitor of my personal page. I'm Henning, a student from Germany, 23 years old. Feel free to drop me a line of what the biochemical reactions in your brain produce..

I'm using an Athlon T'bird at 800MHz right now and waiting to be able to afford an Athlon XP someday..
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Do you think extraterrestrial life exists? If so, when and how will humans discover it? What are the possible benefits and dangers of such a discovery?

- In my opinion, chances are more than bad to find another civilizations of a similar or even higher level of intelligence. Simply because of the fact that compared to the incredible timespan of absolute existance of the universe our existance as human beings is only a blink of an eye, a flash.. and i'm still exaggerating. Not to forget that the physical dimensions of the universe (those we are able to detect) go even further beyond our imagination. I think we'll still stay 'alone' for some time. I agree with Fermi: if there was intelligent life out there it would already be here.

2. Should humans transmit a beacon for others to find? If so, what information should we send?

- There's no reason to hide. Would be evil to send the genetic information of a skunk.. but funny, eh? Maybe they'll even like the flavor..

3. Why do you run SETI@home? What are your views about the project? Any suggestions?

- I'm running it to keep my computer busy, feeling a bit guilty about the waste of electrical energy (although my monitor is switched off most of the time). Besides that, it's a nice global thing, something to talk about, something exciting to watch as it is growing. Suggestions? Hmm.. not at the moment. Gotta go and get back to work.. bye!
