Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Yes. In the next 90 years , I think we will find some kind of life, or trace of it. As to inteligent life a period of 1 (because SETI) to 1000 years is as good guess as any.
The benefits and dangers depend in what we make of it, I believe that for owr specie its fundamental to find life, that will make the first step of the colonization mentality, because if there is life out there we and our ecossystem can live out there too, and if we can, and we should(long run survival, 'all eggs in the same basket' issue and our natural ecologic pressure), well will do'it.

2. It's a risk, but thats being alive, yes we should. Our need to comunicate, to share knowledge, to trade and the arts. I believe more than our biological fundamentals and information like that these 'states of mind' these needs (it's almost certain that most of them will be universal), will be more efficient.

3. Well I don't know how much difference we make by using SETI@home, but at least we don't feel so useless, and so ansious about space exploration, and its natural long term plans.
