Profile: Joe Parko

Personal background
I\\'m 67 year-old retired college professor from Georgia State University where I taught urban studies for some 30 years. I\\'ve always been interested in astronomy.
In high school, I was president of the astronomy club and ground the mirror for my 6-inch telescope. Now my passion is peace. I was part of a peace delegation to Palestine and Israel in March, 2005. I'm active in the Georgia Peace and Justice Coalition working for an end to the Iraq war.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@home because I want to be a part of the search for other intelligent life in the universe. I\\'ve always been a big advocate of citizen participation and the SETI@home project is a great example of citizen participation in science.
