Profile: MBC Dallas

Personal background
Reside in Dallas. Not in a science related field. Always been taken with the idea that "...we are not alone." Will sometimes just sit and watch the data and screen saver graphics for long periods of time. In an odd way it gives me hope and a feeling of being connected...to it all.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Yes I believe it exists. When? When we're ready and no sooner. How? In ways we probably can't even dream of now. Benefits too many to list, though the areas of science, technology and medicine will no doubt be the most practical. Dangers? Will force many fundamentalist and maybe some not so fundamentalist religions to rethink there views of "God" and the Universe in general and our place in it. Many may not be ready for such a challenge.

2. Yes we should send signals. Information that relates our level of technology, therefore our level of evolution. This would give some type of "guidelines" as to how much contact we are ready for and what type to those who may choose to do so and have the capabilities.

3. I run SETI@home because, as crazy as it sounds, what a legacy to leave behind if your little computer was the one whose analysis led to contact with other life forms. What a gift.
