Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yes ExT Life does exist -- because "the Force" (aka, God) exists. Finding it is another matter.

When we do have evidence of ExT Life, I think it will become hope for modern mankind that the universe is not a cold, inhospitable place for life; that there is "a Force" that favors life, growth, and evolution; that our individual lives should be dedicated to living in harmony with this "Force" (e.g., work to increase knowledge, human cooperation, environmental preservation, etc.)

I also have hope that it will show the Bible-Worshippers (i.e., regressive fundamentalists) that the Bible is merely the work of primative man seeking to understand the nature of the Universe. That these Bible-Worshippers then find way to become true Christians and help free America from the grip of the Regressive Republicans and the Corporate greed that elects them.
