Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do think that extraterrestrial life exists. For me, that is only a question of probability. There are poor chances that we are the only creatures that exist in an universe which is that big.

The problem is, however that, again using probabilistic thoughts, chances are very poor that we will ever discover it.
It took us 2 Million years to be able to transmit something electromagnetically detectable. Only 50 years ago we could make it beyond the umbrella of our Atmosphere. So, assuming that other species also have a comparable life-span and technology-progress, chances are poor to catch them transmitting detectable signals.
There won´t be benefits of discovering ETs, since we won´t ever see them, they are simply too far away.

Why do I run Seti ?- I am convinced that this project is very good in order to test out distributed applications, which we, in advance can use for cancer-research or DNA-Analysis or whatever can serve us well in the future
