Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I think we really "are not alone". This universe is too small for the lot of us... If/When humans will finally sicover it... I don't know. Advantage: Technology, Danger: Destruction, which I myself can't really believe, yet we can't rule out this possibility.
2. Humans should not yet send a beacon, as we still don't know how to standardize the most vital piece of information (location of our planet, in non-human-defined coordinates). After that, we might be able to, if we only knew where to send the beacon, and, very important too, what (kind of) language? What sort of language (digital/analogue)? So, maybe not this eon.
3. I run SETI@Home to help find Extra-terrestrial life-forms, if they are there.
