I am 36 years old and live in Orlando, FL. My main interests are space science and film and video production. That is one reason why I loved the movie "Contact" so much. Another reason is because of the questions and possibilities that it brings up. Simply amazing.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I absolutely think that extraterrestrial life exits. Whether it's more intelligent than us, i don't know. I'm not sure if the Seti@home project is the best way to discover extraterrestrials but I do know that it is currently the only way so with that i applaud the project. It may be very dangerous to come into contact with extraterrestrials. History shows that when two societies collide the more intelligent one will eventually eliminate the lesser. But if we don't try we will never know what is beyond Earth.
We already are transmitting a beacon of electromagnetic radiation into space. Within all of that is certainly some kind of Earthly message, that is if an extraterrestrial can decode and understand it.
I run Seti@home to contribute to the search. I think that it's a very cool thing to be involved with.
