Personal background
Born in 1977, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, couple of my friends and I were involved in SETI project from it's beginnings. Even thou our country was torn down by horrible war, we still believed that contributing to the noble cause of SETI will benefit all mankind. We were crunching those numbers on what we had at the time ranging from 50 hours per unit on P166MMX, to less than 10 on our new AMD Athlons. I just wish my people would some day be able to look beyond boundaries and borders of my country and finally realize that ALL of us live on the same planet and there is much more to LIFE than taking territories and having material wealth. Differences between people based on religion, race and believes are not something to fight about. It is a BENEFIT that enriches us all and makes us better and smarter. It's easy to hurt people and everybody can do that but it takes a person, a character, and a human to help and heal them. I'm 24 years old and I moved to New York City on April 26th 2001. I currently work in a law firm as Remote Access Support Specialist. Got my first computer back in 1985 and it was Amstrad CPC 464 with built-in tape recorder, green CRT monitor and 64K of RAM. Ever since I was hooked on machines.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
ET life definitely exists considering the vastness of space around us. But by my opinion for human kind to be prepared to face them, we first need to solve all differences and disputes between our selves. Once that is out of our way we can expect that another civilization will consider to announce it's presence to us, one way or another. International Space Station(ISS) is a more than good beginning and if we continue in that direction, possibilities are endless. So people start crunching those numbers and get involved. To the people of SETI project my suggestion is "NEVER GIVE UP!" You're doing a good thing and every effort is bound to pay-off, all we need is patience and dedication and we will succeed.
