Profile: Mrs Rodeo

Personal background
My husband and I are both retired, and escaped from the hectic, too crowded city, several years ago, and I now live in the middle of no where, on a small ranch we are still trying to build. We've never worked so hard! The benefits are great though! We are miles and miles from any decent size city, and the night sky is breathtaking! I had never even seen the Milky Way, until we moved out here. We often sit outside at night with friends just gazing at the stars. I'm interested in all kinds of things, especially animals, we have 3 horses, 2 dogs and a cat, of which only 1 was bought, the others were either rescues or given to us when the previous owners didn't want them anymore. We also have grandchildren, children, wonderful long time friends, church friends, and extended families. We've been blessed in so many areas of our life! Oh, I'm sure you are curious about the nickname, sheesh, it's a long boring story and I've used it for so long now that I don't even think about it anymore. Yes, it involves rodeo, of which we are huge fans, but not as involved with as in years past.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yes, I think ET is out there somewhere, when we will discover them, is the million dollar question. Probably when they think we are ready to discover them, we will. They most likely know we are here, but we are too violent and crazy to mess with us. Like a bad kid. They are waiting for us to grow up, settle down, and when we are done bouncing off the walls, they'll contact us. Will there be dangers? Maybe, but the optimist in me hopes they will have evolved into a non-violent society and will help us to grow both emotionally and technically. But, I can't help but have visions of "Independance Day" and Will Smith pop in once in a while either!

Yes, I think we should be transmitting some form of beacon, maybe if we keep improving the signal, they will be able to tell when we've grown up enough to communicate with them. It's like baby-talk to them and when we learn to pronounce things better, they'll finally understand and talk back.

Why do I run SETI? Hmmm, good question, because I'm curious about nearly everything, it keeps me amused, and I also feel like in some very small way, I may be helping the cause. I'm disappointed I found the site so late in the project, but every little bit helps, I suppose.
