Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Yes, I think extraterrestrial life exist and are watching us now. They probably won't contact us until we get rid of all our petty differences as a species. Some of the benefits could be expansion into the stars and possible cures to many diseases. Some dangers could be like the series V and First Wave and things like that.

2. Yes, we should transmit a beacon for others to find, it should basically contain everything that was in the Arecibo Message only updated. It has been a few years since the original went out.

3. I run SETI@home because I feel that it is productive and who knows, something might just appear on one of the results that I return.
