I grew up next to Cape Canaveral and Kennedy Space Center. My dad worked for a space contractor from the earliest stages of missle testing until Apollo 11. I've seen almost every manned launch through Apollo 14 and a shuttle or two. I've always been fascinated by the possibilities of exploring space.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1.) How can other life NOT exist with a hundred billion galaxies containing hundreds of billions of star systems?
2.) We should continue sending our TV siganls as a "beacon" because we wouldn't want ET to miss an episode of "I Love Lucy" or more importantly "The X-Files."
3.) Running SETI@home is a low-cost way of participating in a project that, if successful, could rock our foundation of who we are and where we came from.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
