1) yes...hopefully we will find them first...when?...no clue...and I hope we will have the sense not to panic.
2) no...at this stage of human development we should not be transmitting our presence...if the aliens we contact turn out to be hostile, we are sitting ducks.
3) I am convinced that there is other intelligent life in the universe. SETI@Home is a great way for the average person to contribute to the search for that life. To paraphrase the theme from "Contact"...sure seems like alot of wasted space if we are all the life there is. |
