Personal background
Well I'm a 22 year old guy from Finland. I've been running seti@home almost as long as I've had a computer. I like to help. I study at the moment and I'm a bit of a jack-of-all-trades. I'm part comp geek and part militarist. I roleplay and live roleplay and I do Tactical shooting, allthough as of late I haven't had much time for it.

Well I don't know much to say about myself. Currently I'm working as a school program in one of Finlands biggest cable tv atations called SubTV. I get to do all the crappy jobs the others don't want to do. But it has it's little bonuses as well...I'm required to watch TV on the job if I don't have anything better to do and as a big plus I gett free meals. Not much of a pay I know. It's hard being a student who makes 400$ a month.

Well I guess that's about it. I'm a bit booring as a person I guess, but most people agree that I have an oppinnion about everything. Including seti@home.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Personally I do belive in XT lifeforms. Comoon if I didn't I'd only be kidding myself. It would be the most egocentric thing to believe that no other life exist in the universe except on this forgotten little blue planet.

I think space exploration is the most important thing in the history of humankind. A definitve must to promote and advance no matter what the cost.
I'd actually like to join team seti if I could.

Imagine it...meeting XT's...now that's creepy. We can't understan/accept all of our fellow humans due to redicilous reasons like religion or worse skincolour, not forgetting culture. Well think about meeting XT's not a chance that they'll look like us or that we could understand each other. No way, at least in the beginning. But it would make a nice reason for humankind to unite, is it not? I don't remeber who told me the few ground rules for XT's but anyway here they are

1 They don't look like us

2 They don't think like we do

3 They will never understand our warlike race fully, unless they are equally war like or more so. Which leads to a certain conflict between races.

4 We will never ever learn to understand them, but we can try...

5 Their technology is most probably completely different. Likevise ours is totally "alien" to them. Who said that you -have- to research magnetism before electricity?

Hmm as I read through this it might appear to the casual wiever that I am hostile towards XT's. I'm not. I like the idea very much...looking forward towards first contact. Hopefully it will be during my lifetime....or has it allready happened? who knows? hopefully someone...
