Are there extraterrestrials? I can't believe that there are not. They probably will be nothing like us - hopefully a lot more advanced and willing to help us survive - maybe just a dream but I believe you have to be optimistic - it would be a terrible life if you only believed the worst about everything. Are there dangers to discovering other life forms - of course. But the possible benefits outweigh the risks. If there is other life out there, and they are capable of travelling to earth, they could do whatever they want anyway so they will probably find us. Hopefully we will handle the discovery with wisdom instead of arrogance.
I think the SETI program is great and run it to be part of something that could be wonderful. |
