Personal background
I am a 32 year old network engineer living in Dallas Texas. I also have my own web design company (www.labyrinthcommunications.com). This was originally started for a little extra cash but it eventually turned into allot of extra cash! I currently work out of my 1 bedroom apartment on my new dual AMD MP 2gig processor machine that I recently built. I went from processing seti packets in 10 hours to 3-4 hours!!

I also enjoy riding my mountain bike (Cannondale Super-V custom). And playing the latest computer games (currently Warcraft 3). I like to travel just about anywhere that has nice weather. I can’t stand the cold. That’s why I live in Texas! You can checkout some of my vacation pictures on my personal site. www.mikespage.com . I know I need to update it, but time just wont let me. Shoot me an e-mail and let me know what you think. mike@mikespage.com
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I definitely think there is life out there. I also believe that the government probably has had some kind of contact with them. This may be limited contact, but I believe they know that they exist. There has been too many reported sightings and unexplained phenomenon in the earths history to deny that we have had visitors from another planet.

As far as the benefits of discovering life on another planet, I think it would benefit mankind greatly. It might even convince ALL humanity to put aside their petty differences and realize that the world….no the universe, doesn’t revolve around them. To realize that we are not alone in this existence and that there is a totally new frontier to embrace will be the turning point in human evolution. That is if we don’t wipe each other out first. History has proven that we destroy everything that we create. And we are afraid of that which we know nothing about. Therefore all humanity would have to open their minds and hearts and embrace the fact that life is precious and short. We should value life….all life. No prejudices against race, religion or …….??birthplanet??

I think we should make every effort to contact intelligent life beyond this planet. At the rate we are consuming resources, we will run out of fossil fuels within the next 50 years. We are going to need new technology to help us survive, whether it be on this planet or another.

I run Seti 24/7 on my desktop and all day on my laptop. I believe that seti has come up with a terrific idea in the seti@home project. Soon researchers all over the world who need data analyzed will use this concept. Who knows…….maybe we’ll find them before they find us. ;-)
