Personal background
Hey! I live in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. I am an avid computer enthusist (read 'nut'), and am semi-retired at the age of 46 (read 'bum'). Hobbies include collecting police patches and badges from the Ontario Provincial Police and my local police service, Halton Regional Police. I also collect restrants; handcuffs and legirons mostly. Been married since 1991, no kids, just a bunch of cats (currently 2). I am a sun-worshiper and in the early spring to late fall can be caught scaring the neighbors while tanning outside. Love spending most of my summer at Sauble Beach, which IMHO is "THE" best beach in all of Canada!!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I've always been interested in space, space flight, spacial anomolies etc... so it only stands to reason that I would have 2 of my 3 computer involved in crunchin' numbers for SAH. My 3rd computer, a laptop bogs down on crunching numbers and makes the fan spin full tilt in the night when I'm sleeping, so I had to discontinue that one. My personal belief is that it is ignorant to think that we are the only sentient life in the entire universe. Whether or not the SETI project will find other life is debatable, but it can't hurt to try. My only fear is that if life is discovered, the governments would stop the spreading of the news for fear of mass panic.
