Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Do you think extraterrestrial life exists? If so, when and how will humans discover it? What are the possible benefits and dangers of such a discovery?

Yes, there is other life in the universe, intelligent & non-intelligent. We have both kinds here on earth, walking around on two legs, so why shouldn't there be others elsewhere? As Sagan wrote in Contact - if it were just us, the whole thing would be a hell of a waste. Dangers of discovering other intelligent life? The grave danger, I believe, would be to the other life forms. Humanity would probably try to annihilate it out of fear & ignorance.

Should humans transmit a beacon for others to find? If so, what information should we send?

I think we've already sent it, haven't we? Voyagers 1 & 2, plus lords know how many other robot spacecraft out there.

Why do you run SETI@home? What are your views about the project? Any suggestions?

Why do I run SETI@home? I look on it as my small contribution to the overall cause. The project is one of those 'must-do' things that humanity just has to be involved in, even if only to get away from the pathetic minutae of life on earth with all the other mundanes. Suggestions? Who am I to make suggestions about such a grand cause?
