Personal background
I was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, but live in Orlando, Florida, since 1994. I work at a small software company called MAXtix as their Sr Systems Engineer. I also work part-time at Universal Studios Florida at the Earthquake attraction on most Saturdays. I am what is called a spieler which is theme park-ese for a cheap actor. For me it is a paid hobby. I love acting. I am a very creative person, and while I do believe in coding as an art form, most of my creativity is let loose in my shows.

I also perform with the local cast of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, the Rich Weirdoes. If you have never seen Rocky performed in a theater (VIRGIN!) then you really should go see it, but keep an open mind. I have performed as Dr Frankenfurter, Brad Majors, the Criminologist, Dr Scott, and even as Magenta. We perform ever 2nd & 4th Friday and Saturday of every month at the Universal Citywalk Cineplex. We also perform the movie Moulin Rouge in the same theater every 1st Friday and Saturday, where I play the role of Christian.

You can find me on MySpace, LiveJournal, or on AIM or Yahoo! as k001daddy (note that is k-zero-zero-one-daddy).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do think there is the possibility of intelligent life outside our planet, but as a good scientist I say proove it. I see us discovering extraterrestrial intelligent life in one of two ways, the more obvious close encounter of the undeniable proovable kind, or through programs like SETI that examine the signals coming from some not too distant star. I do belive, however, that the probability of finding a signal far superceeds finding a visitor.

We ourselves have been transmiting a beacon: we know it as radio & tv signals! They may not understand the meaning of the signal, but they could understand that the signal is not of natural origin. However, the mere prescence of a terrain singal could catch their interest; and with the help of SETI@home, such a signal from them will eventually catch our attention.

So far I think the project has been an unprecedented success, even if it has yet to provide that long awaited proof. I am really excited that SETI is making BOINC available to other fields who can benefit from distributed computing.
