Personal background
Hi,

I'm 28 years old, married, have a 2 year old daughter, and live in Rugeley, Staffordshire, England.

I work as an IT Manager and enjoy playing Starfleet Battles online and watching Star Trek, Star Wars, and am a huge Lord of the Rings nut. Oh yeah, I enjoy spending time with my family as well and getting clambered over, battered by and slobbered on by little Rachel!

I have a small network of 5 pc's at home ranging from a Pentium 150 to a Pentium 4 2.266. I also have recently installed the command line client as a service on about 20 windows 200 pc's at work to add to the processing power I have available.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Of course extraterrestrial life exists! I wouldn't waste my time running this software if I didn't believe that!

By the time a radio signal reaches Earth from another star, it will be so far out of date that the civilisation that sent it will probably either have died out by now, or developed technology that will enable them to travel to Earth anyway. I therefore believe that first contact will be made directly on Earth.

There is a chance, however, that evidence of life existing in the past could be picked up by the Seti project, and this would at least confirm to the sceptics that we are not alone out here.

Keep up the good work and keep the project going!
