Personal background
Well, everything is pretty much summed up in my website, but things are going well. I am a graduate from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Computer Science. I went there for way too long.

Currently, I'm ACTIVELY looking for a job as a Software Engineer in the New York Tri-State Area. I have a real passion for programming, but alas my lack of free time hinders my ability to do it. Being the lead supplier of office equipment to Greater Farmingdale Area takes most of my time. (Yes, I'm the Lead Associate at Staples, but doesn't the first sound SO much better).

For fun, I like to play Counter-Strike on "Dust of Daytona", hanging out at the local Applebee's, or going to see Dueling Pianos at the Black Forest BrewHaus on Friday nights. Come on down, and check it out!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe ET life exists. It has to. Just like in the movie Contact, it would be an awful waste of space if there wasn't. Besides, I've always been keen on the idea that we're not the only ones. Also, Star Trek and Star Wars are just too cool. I don't think that we'll dicover it in my lifetime. Who knows, miracles/scientific advances happen all the time. If we do discover it, it'll probably them coming to us. I would have to say that the benefits could be that they might be able to cure world hunger/poverty or just show us some cool technology. The dangers of course is that we could introduce some new virus that wipes the planet out, or have them be like Klingons, and try to kill us all.

I think that we should transmit a beacon. Chances are, if there is other intelligent life (as far advanced or further) in this universe, they'll be listening just like us. I think we should send some sort of mathematic signal that can only be produced by other intelligent beings such as broadcasting Prime Numbers, the Fibonacci Series, or some other repeating pattern.

I run SETI@home because I would like to keep my processor running at all times. I initially started using Prime95, but the SETI project was much more appealling to me. I love the project, I wish I had known about it sooner. As far as suggestions go, I think SETI@home is doing great. And for you home users out there, if you want to produce lower time (complete a result faster), don't have the screen saver run, nor leave the GUI window open. Both of these situations use your CPU and take away from the actual result, thus taking longer to complete a result.
