Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think extraterrestrial life exists. Humans probably will discover it when governments stop wasting lifes, money and time on wars and start supporting science to fight hunger, health diseases and unculture. Then maybe some E.T. will find 'intraterrestrial' intelligence. I also think that some scientists must stop putting sticks on wheels to scientists with new theories, not only about astronomy, also about paleonthology, archaeology, history... Possible benefits of such a discovery: Total progress - the rise of a new (and better) civilization. Possible dangers: Total destruction - our governments thought they were dangerous bugs, they thought we were dangerous virus. Humans should transmit a beacon with the following information: S.O.S. HELP US TO PROTECT OUR PLANET BEFORE WE DESTROY IT. I run SETI@home to help to find ETI. I think this project is wonderful and started a new era on sharing CPUs for a cause. I suggest to add a little function on the software that allert users who get imnotized watching those cute graphics on their monitors x-D
