Personal background
Hi! I'm back! I had done SETI@home before, but was laid off from my last employer and that was how I set up my account. Now I'm a project manager for a large quick service restaurant chain in the Chicagoland area.

Funny story... Our work computers are locked down with WinXP security functionality that does not allow us to add any (significant) software and even has the screen saver locked down so you can't change either what it does or the timing on the activation! But, just for fun, I downloaded SETI@home the other day and, voila! It works!!!!!

My Age?! You ask a woman her age?! :) Well, if I have to... I'm 32... To which my mother would add, "and single." As my aunt just got married for the first time at 56, I'm not so worried!

I enjoy scuba diving when I'm not busy with work and my MBA program. I'm also a devoted aunt, trying to get any of my neices and nephew interested in the universe!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do think extraterrestrial life exists. As Carl Sagan said, "It would be an awfully big waste of space" otherwise! I do think that if SETI doesn't uncover the existence of other intelligent life forms, probes like those visiting the moons of Jupiter will discover unintelligent life or remnants of life before. The benefits include expanding our understanding of the sciences and how the universe actually works. The dangers include such things as encountered during the exploration of the Earth - Disease, intolerance, etc.

I would think we should transmit a beacon for others to find. This message would messages of peace in the languages of the world to show our diversity. As well, inclusion of a way to contact us (description of frequency on which to return a message, etc) should be transmitted.

I run SETI@home because I was an astronomy research assistant as an undergrad as well as generally being interested in cosmology and other mysteries of the universe. Knowing that funding is scarce, the least I can do to help is crunch a few files for you! I do think it is an important project and should continue.

The major suggestion I have is to automatically send your password to the newly registered user, as well as to allow for linking of accounts and changing your password (Like I'm gonna remember 10 random numbers - at least phone numbers have bits that mean something to me! :) ). My example is that I was laid off from my former employer, but have my mail account files in which there was nothing from SETI, and I can't get that account's password, so I had to register again as new.

Thanks! And keep up the good work!!!!!
