Personal background
I am currently an Aerospace Engineering Officer in the Canadian Forces working at National Defence Headquarters in Ottawa. Life is pretty busy in Ottawa and my work has me travelling a lot! Although I would love to pursue my interest in space, I spend much of my time doing project management and driving between Ottawa and Petawawa, where my awesome army husband is posted and where we have our home.

I graduated from the Royal Military College of Canada in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Honours Space Science.

I am originally from Montreal Quebec and was born on October 22, 1981. My free time, what little I have :) I spend doing Tae Kwon Do and being a Girl Guide leader. I am looking forward to one day starting a family and perhaps pursuing a master's degree in Space Science.

Ever since I was little I have loved space and I would love to have the chance to explore it for myself. Until that time I am content with learning about it and helping out anyway I can, like donnating my computer time to SETI@home!!
Essentially I am somewhat of a space cadet and I love it...who knows what is out there!!

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I definately think that life exists elsewhere because if not we are one heck of a fluke. Plus, our world has some major problems and I doubt that this is the best that nature could do!! I think that either we are not able to contact them because we do not have the technology or they are waiting until we are ready to join the intersellar community. Humans may get a response when either we find a method of communication that can transend the barriers of different forms of life or when we solve some of the problems in the world and show that we are ready to become part of a larger community.
Once contact is made, there is always the possibility that not everyone will be friendly. I am an optimist and believe that most likely they will be more curious about us than anything else. We could benifit from advanced technology which would make life better for all, the risk lies in us becoming dependant on another race. Over all I think contact would be benificial because it would show us just how trivial some of our disputes are in comparison to interstellar issues and may serve to unit humanity.
If we really want people to find us, sending a becon might be a good idea. I think the information we send should represent the various cultures on the Earth. It should also include math, science and art as methods of communication...we will probably not speak their language but math, art, music or the periodic table may serve as a starting point. We should also include a history of our world...showing that we are not perfect but that we have the ability to learn, adapt and improve ourselves. We should also include information about our current level of technological advancement as that may help them to communicate with us.

I run SETI@home because finding life would be pretty cool, plus my computer doesn't have much to do when I am not using it!! Since I have an intense interest in space, SETI gives me a good opportunity to get involved and make a difference!
