Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yes, extraterrestrail life must exist. All that glorious universe out there, empty. I think not. Even if life's development is accidental (something I doubt, but . . . ) with all the stars, the potential planets, the chaos of the dance of chemical soups, life emerged elsewhere. Is it like us?? Who knows. I certainly don't.

We will either go out there and run into them or they will come here and run into us. The universe is so immense and growing more immense, it will be accidental if we meet other intelligences, unless we deliberately signal them. My concern is is that other life out there like us, like humanity. Considering our history, we might want to be cautious, in case they are.

I run Seti@Home because. Because I dream of sending our descendants out to the stars, because I hope there is a life form out there that can teach us to really love each other, because I hope for the human race and I think that it will die without a frontier to challenge and explore. Space offers that frontier.
