Personal background
I live in Canada. I discovered the setiathome site during a visit to the local observatory (http://www.hia.nrc.ca/cu/) with my son. He is just as intrigued about the universe as I am.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
It would be really sad if we were the only beings in the universe. I'm certain there is life out there due to the vastness of space. I have no idea how humans will discover it. I sense that in order to discover other life forms we need to be more creative and advanced in our technology. I often wonder about the whole concept of time and its continuum relative to travelling.

I guess I'm alittle pessimistic about humans since we only use less than 10% of our brains. My guess would be that other lifeforms would find us before we find them.

I run seti@home because I get that warm fuzzy feeling of being a part of something great!
