Profile: Paul V. McBride

Personal background
Retired music teacher, employed by Wal-Mart, hobbies, theater, astronomy, mathematics, writing. Approaching 60. Would like to see some success from this project. Bachelor of Music in Education and Master of Science degree from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. Taught music in Green Forest, Arkansas for 25 years, Astronomy at North Arkansas College in Harrison Arkansas for 5 years. Past member of IOTA. While working on thier projects I was able to log the discovery of in excess of 17 previously unknown double stars. Participated in Paul Maley's Venus Graze expedition near Benton, Arkansas in 1976 and contributed 4 data points to that effort. Participated in the observation of the anular solar eclipse near Hahnville, La. in 1984. Currently I am very involved in doing Significant theater work with the Ozark Arts Council at the Lyric Theater in Harrison, Arkansas. My favorite educational phrase is one I coined myself, "If you can't do it here, you can't do it." Go find them critters. The photo is me fishing. Seti is sort of like fishing. It pleases me.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
More interested in the direction Seti is taking. Much can be done by these methods. Wonder what other things could result from such a comprehensive scan of a section of the sky. The possible applications of the methods are enormous. The interest this kind of research is growing. I have read of cancer research using the method, and have participated in the prime number search which uses the method. Thanks, so much for this development. Much dissapointment with conclusions being drawn from this project. Seems to be too much not being said here, still the knowledge base is growing. There should be a matching of known objects effort taking place. I cannot access any file that has all of my work units. I have had a bit of luck matching my work units with the specific regions of the sky. Would like a complete catalog of the work units I have done. I have long said that life exists where ever there is liquid water, therefore extraterrestrial life does exist. We must populate the universe. Our existance here is limited, unless we can find other environments. We are the stuff that knows the universe, if we are lost so is our universe. Thanks for helping. Surely someone is willing to leave and never come back. Good Luck!!!
