Personal background
Well, I'm currently in Oklahoma. I found myself here through a strange set of circumstances. I will not go into those here. I'm in my late 20's. I work at a zoo, educating children about the wonderous forms of life that inhabit this planet. Hobbies, Obsessions more like it, seems I find a new one every month. Last few months its been, HO trains, Lego (mindstorms), photography, and soon to be herpetology as my son wants an iguana. I'm finishing a bachlors degree in field that I no longer find interesting, Biochemistry. Point of no return has been crossed I guess you could say. I intend to go live in an earthship (self-sufficient home) after I'm done here anyway and remove myself from society as much as it will allow. That's about all you would ever need to know about me, except the story of where I started my own religion, maybe later.......
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Of course extraterrestrial life exists, the problem is scale. The vastness of space wraps us in an invisible, empty shell, from which there is no escape. Our technology may eventually change that but I fear not before it destroys us. I think our best chance of finding neighbors in this universe is to temper our "development" of the planet. Otherwise no one will be here to find. I allow Seti to run on my computer because there is always a chance, however slight, that a society that has mastered technology and yet still remains alive will find us.
