Profile: George DeHaan

Personal background
I'm 44 yrs old as of the creation date of this profile, and have been actively searching for most of the past 4 yrs. My hobbies include currency collection, hiking, camping and mountain-biking. (One I cannot indulge in - due to lack of finance, thus equipment- is astronomy, both radio and optical observation)

As for profession, currently unemployed, but I do have a PC Specialist diploma.
I am looking to improve and upgrade these skills, although there is not a device or system I cannot modify, build or repair. My only acknowledged weakness in this area would be keeping up with the ever-changing software side of things.

I'm from Canada, and haved lived here all my life. Travel to other countries is the one thing I wish for, as long as I have someone to enjoy the experiences with (and I do have someone to travel with, by the way)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run setiathome for the pure science of it, and the hopes that we can find 'someone' out there.

Despite the opinion of those who say we must be alone, I feel the project is our best hope of reaching out. I mean heck, we're a 'noisy neighbour' to anyone within 80- 90 light-years, so why not see if anyone else is or was creating the same type of inter-stellar disturbance?

Continue to pressure the governmental and scientific communities to not abondon this project. Hollywood makes fun of 'visitors' from beyond our solar system, and have been for years... Why? I say because someone knows something that they don't want to share...YET.
