Personal background
Oh, it's just me. Not that it's all about me. And what I've written here isn't, certainly, all about me. Not that 'all about me' is that astoundingly long a topic. But this doesn't quite cover it. But I'm here, and that's just about all I'm writing for now. At least, as far as writing about me goes.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Does life outside of Earth exist? Oh, I can't be 100% certain that extraterrestial life exists. Existed. Or will exist. But I can be about 99.999% certain. Which is good enough to go looking for it.

Should we blurt out a signal for other life that might be looking for life outside of their own habitat to find? Well, it stands to reason that if you're looking one of the best ways to find something else that's alive is to get its attention. It works here on Earth. Can't say that the distances between stars are going to be helpful in this regard, but we can always keep hoping to find a faster way. I've heard someone refer to the speed of light as a natural govoner in place until a people get clever enough to get past it. It's a hopeful comment that keeps people thinking, anyways.

Why run SETI@Home? It may not be THE most efficient way to be looking, it may not be the BEST project in the world currently afloat that's looking for life. Even SETI has projects ongoing that can't be directed to SETI@Home. I don't think that should stop anyone who believes that we should be looking from donating the time they leave their machines untended. It's probably one of the few times in life when it becomes actually possible through even minimal lazy effort to walk the talk.

That's my two bits. 'Night all. Or G'mornin, or g'day, or g'd eve'nin. It's bedtime for me, but that just means its time to stop hitting the snooze button somewhere over in Greenwich, don't it? ;->
