Personal background
A bird flew through the clouds, hoping to break free of the cold water vapor. Taking one last flap of the wings the bird couldn't find the opening it wanted.

Thus the story of my occupation and hobbies. Always started, but never finished.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I first ran SETI@home in 1999 not to find life in the universe, but really to expand our scientific computing horizons. I was hoping that this would lead to an explosion of computing power. It has but was really surprised at how fast it happened. I am hoping it will lead to further advances in computer science and general science.

As for the project itself, I don't believe it will help find intelligent life in the galaxy. There are too many variables in how aliens would communicate or if they would or could. However, you have to start somewhere and this is one of the easiest ways to do it. Once this project is over, I will definetely help in the next way to find the life out there. As I do believe there is life in other parts of the universe (not just planets).
