Profile: Ian Francis

Personal background
I am an 19 year old freshman at Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York. I like girls, hockey, building stuff, cars, and girls. I am currently studying mechanical engineering here and hope to one day work in the aerospace industry. When I am not in school, however, I reside in Columbus, Ohio, where it is slightly warmer and less rainy. Other then that, I don't have much else to say about me.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think extraterrestrial life exists, though I do not know if we will be lucky enough to discover any other civilizations any time soon. Though I do not think the chances of contacting an alien civilization using SETI@Home are very good, I think we should still try every viable means of doing so. I also believe we should be transmitting as well, for as we know even starting now requires many many years for the signal to reach any possible civilizations. So I think we need to get on the ball! But overall the SETI crew and everyone else helping make SETI@Home work are doing a great job. I would like to see SETI@Home expand its abilities in the near future possibly with the use of more telescopes or any other means of making SETI@Home run faster and get more work done then it is currently now. I advise everyone out there reading this to encourage friends or family to help with the project or similar projects on the internet since all of that idle computer time is a total waste of electricity and clock cycles. Well that is all I have. Everyone have fun and best of luck with SETI@Home.
