Personal background
I'm from Texas and live near Texarkana, Tx. I am 59 and have been interested in astronomy for years. I am retired from the U.S. Air Force. When i was in the USAF i was aI radar operator and even went to space track school. While in
Alaska the second time i operated Phased Array Radar and performed space track functions as well as tracking Russian missile test firings I tracked 25 missiles. I like watching movies on tv and playing games on my computer, and i keep close track of my seti units. Out of all of my experience with space track and using my telescope, I am still in the dark as to how seti comes up with more than 23 hours of right accention. Mabe someone could enlighten me. I plan on hitting 400 units by my 1 year anniversary on Mar 28 2004. Thats my goal.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do think that life exist somewhere else. With the countless number of stars in this galaxy and the millions of other galaxies life must have started on many of them. I don't know when when or how it will be discovered but Seti is a good start. The benefits of more advanced technology could help solve many problems we have on this planet. I think the dangers would be slight. I dont think that a race would travel thousands or millions of light years just to start a fight or take over this planet. Many planets have been discovered around other stars and the resources of such planets would be unlimited which would make the resources of Earth pitiful. the greatest danger might be bilogic. I think a signal should be sent. It would just be a way of saying "Howdy! We're here let's chat. The type of info should be left to people with the brains like the people at Seti and NASA. I run Seti@home because i feel that i am contributing something to the effort. If a signal is detected i can say "I helped", although it may not be in my lifetime. I think the project is worthwhile because; if an alien race had star travel they might be passing by and not be interested in our insignificant sun and might possibly pick up the signal by accident, or they may be listening like we are.i havent seen anything about a chat room or anyway i could communicate with anyone to get answers to questions i have.
