Personal background
Me.[/b]
I am a 37 year old automation & process computer geek. I have been married to my wonderful wife for over 15 years.
I have been a science fiction fan since I was about 7 years old, and I have always hoped that we do not have the only nest with the eggs in it. I do often wonder if any othe life form would even want to talk to us, but I am more than willing to help find those that would.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The probablility that ET life exists seems fairly high to me. One only needs to read Analog, or Asimov (SCI-FI Magazines) to get an incredible array of what might happen to us if we are "found". At a certain basic level, I guess you could say I am paranoid - I want to find them first. The paranoia kicks in, becasue I belive there is a way to travle between stars that is acceptable to us, just not found yet.

We do not need a beacon. We are one. Perhaps not a strong one, but we are. Remeber Voyager? I do not remeber the story, buit I read one where the map that we put on voyager led to our demise. That is the primary way that humans think, as a group. As individuals we tend to be alot more secretive.

I run SETI, because it is a way I can help the "Human Space Program". I was highly disappointed to hear that the Brazillians recent crash will probably take them out of what is left of our 'Space Race'. That combined with NASA's seemly unendless array of burecracy will eventually stifle any human attempt to go "out there". At least by participating in SETI@home I am still do something to further our knowledge.
